Folklore & Ethereal Black Metal Solo Project from Northumbria

From the grim darkness of Northumbria emerges Dinenthal, a visionary blend of storyteller and dreamer. His music weaves dark, foreboding tales, capturing the essence of Northumbrian history and the Celtic folklore of his ancestral Western Argyll. He delves into the complexities of space, time, and the profound mysteries of existence, creating an evocative auditory experience.

Dinenthal's solo project began in 2009 during a hiatus of Acherontia Styx, the band he co-founded with Grant Crossan in 2007. However, the solo project did not fully come to fruition until 2017. His passion for black metal ignited in the early '90s when a friend's mixtape introduced him to the genre. Already captivated by extreme metal bands like Carcass, he was instantly drawn to the dark sounds of early Norwegian black metal bands such as Emperor and Mayhem.

A masterful multi-instrumentalist, Dinenthal plays guitars, bass, piano, keyboards, synthesizers, violin, and brass instruments. As an extreme metal vocalist, his impressive guttural range spans from deep, low growls to high, ear-shattering shrieks. These vocal talents are prominently featured in tracks alongside Acherontia Styx frontman Grant Crossan.

Beyond his main band, Dinenthal has lent his guttural vocals to US movie director Brian Labrecque's doom-laden spoken word epic poem, "Atheist Alien," and contributed synths to its sequel, "Atheist Alien: A Tale of Pentacles." He also served as studio engineer and co-producer for the album, collaborating with drummer Simon Skrlec from Sinister, Robert Lowe from Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus, and Nita Morrigan from Lost Requiem.

In addition to his work with Acherontia Styx, Dinenthal performs in the electronic prog rock instrumental band DTS Overdrive, showcasing his diverse musical talents and innovative spirit.
