A storyteller from a long lost world.
Dinenthal (also known as The Prior) recently joined UK black metal band Old Corpse Road as a vocalist. Known for their atmospheric sound and focus on British folklore, the band now includes Dinenthal’s contributions as part of their evolving lineup. His involvement builds on the band’s tradition while adding a new voice to their storytelling.
Alongside this, Dinenthal is also an independent solo project rooted in the black metal tradition. Based in the North East of England, Dinenthal is a disciplined multi-instrumentalist whose work draws heavily on the legends and folklore of Durham and Northumbria, as well as the ancient stories of his ancestral homeland, Argyll. His passion for travel often leads him to explore and incorporate regional tales from further afield, creating a broad and richly textured thematic palette. Musically, Dinenthal blends raw black metal with atmospheric elements, synthesisers, and folk instruments. The result is a sound where snarling guitar tones, immersive synth washes, and expressive vocals combine to create a dark, captivating atmosphere that shifts between chaos and clarity.
